Even the most wonderful summers leave us with a readiness for the routines and rhythms of the back to school season. Our children get excited about fresh school supplies, meeting new teachers and seeing friends they’ve missed and we get excited about a little more structure to the flow in our homes. As we go back to school, not only do our calendars begin to fill up quickly, but we also have a sudden influx of information regarding the upcoming school year. Parent orientations leave us with lists of extra needed supplies, event dates, committee information lists, volunteer signup sheets and activity schedule info. Even with schools becoming more and more tech friendly, we still find ourselves coming home with piles of handouts from back to school. With information being given out regarding events for an entire semester or school year, we have found over the years that in an attempt to keep up with every little detail, those handout sheets began to create a pretty significant paper pile problem in our homes. Adding photos to events, especially shared ones is fun, but the attach photos feature also offers a significant function that you may not have considered before. When you snap a picture of an informational handout from school, an invitation, or a mailer and attach those photos to your events, not only do you have the basic details of those events at a glance, you have all of those extra little details too! Instead of holding on to all of those loose papers, they are now documented in your shared calendar in CURAGO and can be tossed in the recycle bin. Meet the teacher: You’re given a list of additional supplies needed for the 1st day of school. You can upload a picture of that list and attach it to the event- 1st day of school in your CURAGO calendar. This makes it not only easy to access while shopping for these items, but it is also sharable with your significant other or co-parent if you’re not the one doing the shopping.
Assignment handouts: Your child comes home with a handout with instructions for an upcoming project. By attaching a pic of the instructions to the due date and creating an event, you can easily refer back to the criteria as needed. It also allows you to have a ready list of supplies needed that you can refer to while shopping or preparing for the project.
Field trip event handouts: When your younger child has an upcoming field trip, it is typical to receive a handout that is sent home by the teacher stating the details of the event including the transportation to and from, as well as the things that students are expected to bring with them. (i.e.: a jacket, $5.00 for lunch, and so on.) A picture of this information sheet that is attached to the event allows you to have easy access to the details of the event, beyond what is entered into the calendar. No more digging around in a paper pile from 2 weeks ago to insure you remember every detail about all items needed for a successful fieldtrip day.
School event handouts: Your school is hosting a Grandparent’s Day in September for all students to bring their grandparents in for donuts and see their classrooms. You receive a handout with information regarding the event, including the date, start time and details. You need to sign and return a portion of the sheet in order to make their reservations for donuts. Once you cut the bottom part of the handout off to return to school, you can take a picture of the remaining portion of the handout to attach to the event Grandparent’s Day in your shared calendar and toss that section in the recycle bin. Not only is all of the information at your fingertips in CURAGO, but it makes a nice and informative visual for the event which you can then send to invite each of the Grandparents via CURAGO. Organizing classroom parties: At back to school night, you signed up to be in charge of your child’s class Valentine party in Feb. You received a note home from the teacher that includes the names of 5 other moms that signed up to help you with the party, as well as a list of party needs and supplies for that day. When you create an event in CURAGO on the date of the party, you can attach photos of the notes for the event and invite the other 5 moms to the party event in CURAGO. You now have a central location in which to save and discuss the details of the party, as well as share any other relevant lists and comments. You no longer have to worry about keeping up with those details for months, or having to email or text the other moms regarding the party. With CURAGO, you have a sharable tool that will change the way you organize events with other volunteers. By creating and sharing the event, you can also confirm the participation of the other moms and insure that they have the party and their responsibilities on their CURAGO calendars as well.

Party or shower invites received by mail: When you receive a paper invitation by mail, enter the event in CURAGO and attach a picture of the invitation at the top. No need to worry about entering every small detail. Instead, all of the details included on the invitation are viewable at the top of your calendar event. Some event invites, such as those for showers, include quite a few details. Those smaller details are usually not entered into a calendar event and that typically requires you to save the paper invite for reference. For example, a list of stores where someone is registered for a shower, a “don’t forget your swimsuit/sleeping bag/socks” reminder for a child’s birthday party, etc. By attaching a picture of your paper invitation, you can rest assured you’ve got all of the event details you need.
Community/ Organization activities: You walk into your volunteer organization and receive a small business card from a greeter containing information about the upcoming Day of Service next month. Instead of potentially losing the small card while you drop off your children at childcare, you can quickly create the event date and attach a picture of the card to the top. You then have a quick reference of the details such as the web address where you can go to sign up for your volunteer shift. Not only does the attach photos feature allow to quickly save information under your events, it also serves as a nice themed header for the event. Perfect for sharing and inviting others to join you!
